Halloween has come a long way since its origins from the Celtic festival of Samhain (pronounced sow-ain) where 2000 years ago the Celts believed on October 31st (the time when it started to get cold and dark due to the first day of winter) the boundary between the worlds of the living and the dead became blurred. It was believed that the ghosts of the dead returned to earth on this day and the Celts would wear animal masks in a ceremony to sacrifice crops and animals to the deities.

After the 800's when Christianity placed their slant on the holiday and called it All-hallows Eve and, eventually, Halloween which placed a positive slant on the holiday and then became a much more socialized event.

Today, Halloween has become just as much of a holiday for adults as children. Adult Halloween parties can be found across the world where men dress up in masculine, heroic, or macabre outfits while the women dress in more goth and sexy attire.
